LOS ANGELES, April 11th, 2017 – COLLiDE atx is proud to announce chef/owner Carlos Acosta of Rosarito will be our next featured chef in the space. The limited edition menu will only be available through June 15th and feature exclusive Baja ceviche items.
“We are so excited to highlight new and classic takes on Baja Ceviche. These guys are doing something really special and we are proud to share with with our customers,” said COLLiDE founder, Alan Miller. “We are excited to pair this with our new day/night house menu featuring daily salads, pork baos and other east side favorites.”
Beginning this week art installations by BLVD and Noah Wight will create a new atmosphere for the space. “We were lucky enough to see some of Noah’s work during SXSW and were blown away,” said Miller. “His ability to create incredible atmospheres through light is remarkable.”
As a founding member of SprATX, BLVD is a pioneering force behind the street art movement in Austin creating work for SXSW, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Austin City Limits.
April programming includes a Monday DJ residency from Black Joe Lewis along with local spotlight shows featuring featuring Cari Q, The Cover Letter, Darkbird and Otis The Destroyer.
Tuesdays in April will also see the return of Burn Pizza. Back by popular demand, select pizza’s from Burns former chef Ron Emter will be available every Tuesday in April.
Originally hailing from San Diego, CA and now residing in Austin, TX, Jay Morgan, BLVD (pronounced Boulevard) began the artistic path in the fine arts in 1995. He has since progressed his career as a street artist, tattooer, carpenter, and sculptor. Today as one of Austin’s most multi-faceted artists, BLVD’s clients include but are not limited to X-Games, 1xRUN, Austin City Limits, SXSW, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. His signature bright blue teddy bear seen on the streets presents itself as an indication of the lighter side of the art world and as a reminder to not take life so seriously. In addition to being an independent artist, BLVD is co-creator and owner of SprATX, the local art collective and boutique in East Austin.
About Noah Wight
Noah Wight was born in Texas but was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Denver. He traveled the world working on boats for 10 years. For the past two years, he has lived and worked in Texas in R&D and prototyping. His goal is to be a conduit between art and technology and make cool stuff! He’s just getting started but has already cultivated awe and joy in many people who have had the pleasure of seeing his work. His art form is unique but his process reflects that of a traditional painter. His circuits, code, solder and plastic are his brush strokes. Noah will be collaborating with Alex Rowe, utilizing his software Synesthesia to bring the installation to life.
Rosarito serves gastronomy found in the streets of Baja California Towns in Mexico. Our specialty the ‘Baja Taco’, is a natural fusion between Mexican Pacific seafood & oriental traditions. When Japanese fisherman arrived at the Pacific coast, they showed the Mexican cooks their tempura tradition and a blending of spices from the two cultures emerged, bringing a special hint of Asia into the Baja cuisine.
Rosarito’s 2nd truck is coming this spring and will feature some new items on the menu, like tostadas, ceviches and cocktails that we will be featuring in Collide for April and May.
